You will be spinning your wheels (pun intended). As a former language teacher (French and English) and linguist I can tell you that you are fighting a losing battle. Language has a mind of its own and will not be directed. The French have even created a whole institution to keep their language pure (L'Académie Française) - they have been fighting Anglicisms for years with zero success. I'm afraid that you're stuck with "meh" until it decides to leave on its own.
