Yep correct strut to rim 38mm+9-10mm, so 47-48mm. This with KW V3 and I read somewhere the damper tubes might be a bit thicker, so less clearance than stock (they look very similar to me but haven't measured.
The other point is exactly where the widest point of the tyre rim sits as the damper tube is nor parallel to the wheel, I cant recall if the gap increases marginally as you go up from wheel centre to outer edge or visa versa ! I think I could see that a 21 might end up with fractionally more clearance so the gap must increase
