The reason for this is the target customers. Majority of m3 owners are young men trying to make a statement. Majority of m6 owners are the more mature version of m3 owners. M5 owners tend to be middle aged adults who want a saloon that goes unnoticed to the untrained eye but will rip your face off when you need it to. If you want a flashy car get an m3, if you want a wolf in sheeps clothing get an m5
