You forget the new 3-series included the EfficientDynamics model with both auto and manual boxes - and the auto loses 0% in performance and economy. I think the same applies with the new 1-series. And I think 90% of buyers will plump for the auto.
As for the new city car - well can you give your sources please cos I haven't read anywhere about a manual version.
