Quite a good analogy due to the cross bank exhaust manifold. This replicates the exhaust pulsation of a flat plane crank V8 and is the reason why the F10 M5, and a Ferrari V8 to a higher degree, doesn't sound like a normal V8.

The Ferrari due to it's flat plane crank design that naturally creates a different sound, the F10 M5 due to it's cross bank exhaust manifold that replicates the exhaust pulsation per cylinder bank of a flat plane crank V8.
I've been trying to explain that to people since day one. Some people still think that all V8's are the same. The S63tu is no V10 but damn do I love the sound from it just as much as the V10. I almost feel sorry for those who still think that the S85 V10 is the only great sounding M engine. They are missing out. .
