2013 M5 Not liking the cold weather (engine/transmission)

This is my first winter with the new car.
I haven't been able to keep my car warm and toasty over night yet and the outside temperature here is now approaching freezing (and will be tonight).
What I'm noticing is that engine/transmission is really very jerky before the car warms up (about 15-20min later). When I take my foot off the gas the car immediately wants to slow down rapidly and this is even in the efficient setting. During deceleration and when the car naturally downshifts the car surges during the transition which is really really noticeable.
I haven't felt this 'jerkyness' in my cars since the early nineties. Is this normal?
Just to give you a bit of history, I've never had a car so powerful before (last was an Infiniti G35x), never had a car with turbo's before, never had a car with DCT.
Any insight would be helpful, I don't want to go to the dealership and cry wolf.
