Does the same issue happen in D1? In D1 is it better, worse, or about the same?

If it behaves better in D1, drive it in that mode until you have a chance to bring the car in.

Based on your responses to my questions, I would say that it's not normal behavior, and you should bring the car to a BMW dealer for diagnosis.

It could be something simple or it could be more severe. No one has reported an issue like this before.
