I live pretty close and can't say there are any issues that I would report back to BMW. I spend a lot of time in Whistler where it was about -5C last weekend. The engine sound is harsh for the first minute or so but gets back to "normal" before you know it. My 911 was the same (maybe a bit more of a delta). There's no appreciable difference with respect to gear changes. The only noticeable difference in cold weather is the obvious loss of traction and the ride is stiffer for sure.
