I don't understand the logic of trying to polish the plastic panel instead of letting the dealer replace it under warranty. After all, most probably it was the dealer that caused the damage in the first place.
If the dealer messes something else up then they will have to replace whatever it is as well. In the other hand, if polishing the panel messes it up even more then its warranty will be gone as well.
