There is slightly difference between S and D. In D mode, computer is responsible to change the gear so there is a delay and rev matching to make the shift smooth. In Sequential mode, the driver is responsible to select the shift point and there is not that much delay (especially in S2 and S3). This is exactly like a true manual tranny with exception of clutch pedal and you can shift the gear in less than 100 ms (in S3) which is very fast. At each shift you are dealing with two different gear ratios and upon gear changing the inertia will take the place and you feel jerkiness along with DSC blinking if you shift near the red-line where the max power is available... The more power, the more jerkiness... You won't feel this jerkiness if you change the gear in lower RPM (less power) or in higher gears (ie 4 to 5 or 5 to 6 or 6 to7) where the gear ratios are close and equal or less than 1:1 ... S2 and S3 are defined as Sport /Sport+ shifting and you would expect that clunk and kick from rear; however if you want smooth gear shifting, you may need to set to S1...
