The outgoing M cars you could not find a comparison in engine characteristics aside from a few audi's with high revving engines. They were in a class of their own, love them or hate them, there was nothing like it out there outside of a ferrari/lambo.
It will be a success for bmw, a nice car to have but IMO will not fill the void of a true M car. Would be nice if they offered both this and a high revving screamer.
