All that you stated is also my understanding of the power of the BMW police, and the catless downpipes will probably wait for a while, unfortunately. You mention the manual shift overrev and I assume that could only happen with a wildly over-optimistic downshift where the rear wheels drive the engine revs way past redline? The manual has the same rev limit safeguards as the DCT on the way up the gears doesn't it?
