Where and how badly was your car hit? Generally speaking diminished value claims only come into play if the accident is large enough to show up on CarFax in the first place, and if it's just a fender/bumper/door issue, I doubt it would. Technically you might have some diminished value from an appraiser being able to detect that the car was repainted (usually from tape marks/residue on the inside of adjacent panels), but I doubt that would be enough to get a claim paid out.

If on the other hand there are suspension components that need to be fixed or something along those lines, then absolutely go for a claim.
