I bought mine for $300 shipped from Germany in the first week it was released. The vendors I looked at on eBay Germany no longer have any stock.
So I think they didn't launch it in the US due to insufficient inventory.

Indeed. I have 30+ on order. No ETA currently. I'm lucky to have the one I have currently, though I became so used to not being able to dock my phone that I'm not really using it.
