BMW's USA site originally listed 20-way adjustable seats as standard for the M5. That was wrong and has since been updated to 18-way to account for the lack of side bolster adjustments. I believe all North American 2012 and 2013 M5 owners are SOL on this issue.
5GT is kinda different, though - it is based on 7-series, not 5-series. But yea, it IS kinda strange that BMW used the inferior seats in whole new 5-series range (at least in USA market), starting from 528i and ending with new M5... I mean come on, even our X5 has better seats (20-way "comfort seats" with side bolster adjustments)...
