My production date was after the oil pump recall. I'll check mine this weekend and post up.

I'm wondering though. Assuming the holes were engineered into the original production they must have served a purpose that later was determined less desirable than the purpose and expense of installing block off plates. Do you think a performance engineer designed the holes to ensure sufficient air volume at WOT but later a sound engineer determined the whistle was undesirable and BMW decided that customers would complain about the noise in every day driving while not noticing a slight decrease in performance at WOT?
