I highly doubt that 2013 M5 owners will even be able to retrofit the new seats as it would violate US DOT. My guess is that they moved the airbag location for the new 2014 F10 M5 seats so that the adjustable side bolsters could be incorporated. This is the reason, I'm guessing, why BMW did not have them in the 2013's. There wasn't enough time for BMW to get the new seats DOT approved so they went ahead with a design for the 2013 M5's that included only an 18-Way Seat (without the side bolster ajustments). This was because the airbags themselves are located in the side bolster itself. For the new 2014 M5 seats, they must have moved the airbags to either the door or the B-Pillar in order to make it DOT compliant. The E60 M5 had the side airbags in the side of the door as well and that's why there was never an issue with it.
