I just got off from the phone from BMW NA corporate office regarding the side bolster function missing.
I also asked about the recall on the pump and she confirmed all the EU delivery vehicles as well as other M5s currently on the US bound ships will be held at the port until the pump is replaced there.
Although this will delay my car getting to the dealer, I actually prefer BMW doing the repair than the dealer.
Mechanics doing this repair will do a better job because they will only be doing this work repeatedly for the next couple weeks and be really good at it.
