Put some ribbon or similar material inside the airbox. Blow air from the outside with and without scoop. See the ribbon move with the airflow and compare

the scoops works very well, and is evident from the increased amount of grit and small debris found around each airbox under the hood now, from where its been collecting and forcing cold air straight from the road to the filters.
Also, id also like to say that even in heavy rain at 120 mph the filters still remained bone dry - just fyi
