I don't agree with these advantages:
1) DSB will just make your car look like a regular 5 series M-Sport. Not unique at all. Same issue faced by people who get Space Gray, Imperial Blue or Alpine White.
2) I did a close comparison of DSB and IB when I bought my old 550i and I concluded that IB is better. IB is a Xirallic color and it really pops in the sun. The DSB is lighter but it doesn't sparkle as much. MCB also has a good sparkle to it like all of BMWs newest paints.

I think the real choice should be between San Marino Blue and Monte Carlo Blue. I think the MCB suits the M5 better. The San Marino Blue is very nice too though and would have the advantages you describe above of being unique and a balance between lighter and darker.
