At the moment I've got a stock intake with drop-in filters, catless downpipes, stock resonator, the X5M has no factory installed x-pipe like the M5 does and then I've got a stock muffler with the valves ziptied open. Ultimately I want to have more depth to my exhaust so it sounds more like an M5, which I've read the x-pipe will help with that. I want to be able to hear the turbos, have a free flowing exhaust for power and I wanted as large of tips as possible (I bought the exhaust piping and tips before I'd done catless downpipes), but I've got some drone now, so proceeding with the muffler delete will only make it worse.

Hindsight I'm thinking I won't do the muffler delete, I'll still add an x-pipe and then look into doing these exhaust cutouts, either electric or boost actuated. Can you tell me the part # of which resonated x-pipe you installed? The reason I ask is because I replaced the stock resonated x-pipe on my 7 series with a normal x-pipe and it sounded terrible, so I'm trying to decide if I should do a normal x-pipe like in the pics below or copy you by doing a resonated since you're happy with the sound.

On the left is a stock X5M exhaust, on the right is aftermarket M5 exhaust. Point being once again that I don't have a stock x-pipe, so I'd have create my own location aft of the stock resonators vs you guys being able to get away with cutting out the stock x-pipe and adding a resonated one. Did you replace the resonators (they're pretty far apart from each other) and install a resonated x-pipe or did you replace the stock x-pipe with a resonated x-pipe?
