You are right. Peak torque at the rear wheels is more with the DCT due to the lower gearing (in the lower gears), but that's at WOT under load. If one were to floor either car off the line, the only result is wheel spin.

Does the taller gearing in the MT help the driver modulate wheel spin? Perhaps - but I would suggest having a real (foot operated) clutch is a more significant advantage.

MT guys do argue that clutch modulation is an advantage off the line, but the DCT equipped cars always fare better in tests. I wonder if this is due to launch control. It would be interesting to see a drag race between MT and DCT cars without using LC in the DCT car.
