Yeah, what is going on in the airbox from a hole, block-off plate, or snorkel is a little perplexing. Let's break it down like this:
Whatever the airbox looks like is irrelevant regarding charcoal filter removal. The charcoal filter is restrictive. Period.
Take the filters out...you'll see better throttle response, potentially a bit more bump in HP, and, some more turbo sound.
