I don't have any experience with an aftermarket tuned N54. My 135i only had the BMW perf power kit giving it an additional 20 bhp and 50Nm. The N54 at that tune is pretty lag free, but hopeless above 5000 rpm. As said, even at 2k with your N54, i doubt it's instantaneous for
every gear at 2k. The S63TU pulls very strongly at 7000 rpm and instantaneous at 2000 rpm for the lower gears.
A fellow mate who recently ordered an M5 told me he used to own a modded 335i with the full works and rated > 400 bhp. He thot the M5 feels a lot more powerful than even that car.
