My old E70 (SE version, space grey) got more 'negative attention' than the M5 (moonstone) - most people don't notice or don't care about the M5 and the petrol heads like most of us are likely to spot it regardless of colour, de-badging, etc.
I agree that now the F30 M Sport now offered in EB, a MCB M5 is even more likely to go unnoticed as far as the non-car enthusiast is concerned.
Singapore grey is a good alternative to black sapphire if you want something discreet (could be mistaken for sophisto grey) but is currently only offered on M5/M6 as a standard colour, so IMO more special that black sapphire.
I use mine for work so went for a relatively discrete colour. My car seems to attract the same level of attention as my old F10 535d in the same colour.
