With a solid looking quite bulky body a think tyre can look quite fragile. Like stilettos with jeans.
I had a 964 C2RS a while back and bought 18's for it and it looked wrong, really worked on the chunky 17's supplied.

I was fearful of some of the same things when I went to a 21" wheel setup but was pleasantly surprised with the ride quality. I recently went from H&R springs to KW HAS and that also really improved handling, body roll and ride quality. I feel it's an improvement over the stock suspension.
Anyways, different strokes for different folks!
