I also have the BMW factory recommended winter tire/wheel combo (19" 408m with the Pirelli Winter Sottozero S II ). I have had to deal with ice and snow a number of times here and I am surprised at how well this high horsepower/torque rear wheel drive car does on the ice and snow. As I stated in another thread, the only issue I have is my concern with snow deeper than probably about 3 to 4 inches. The concern there is not that I wouldn't be able to get around in the ice and snow that deep, but I don't want a hidden chunk of ice or anything else that would damage the front of the car or anything on the underside of the car. With as low as the front is, it's a concern at least for me.
