I had this issue recently but in the rear right tyre assembly. I tried to drive normally for a few weeks but then it just got too unbearable. It wasn't just clicking but click + creaking and would happen at all speeds, more noticeable when pulling away. This happened suddenly after about 6 months of perfect behavior.
Got an appointment and took it in. They kept it for a week and during the time I got impression they weren't really able to pin it down. Finally fixed it: loose strut.
Drives like a dream now. Again.
