Terrible to hear, Barry. Picked mine up this morning, broke it in on the way to Nurburgring and then did some laps.
My brother and I discussed yr predicatment last might. To be honest, I agree that they should pick up the tab for your airfare and hotels, plus do whatever they need to get you a 100% functional car ASAP.
Think of it this way: you gave 100% faith in BMW to deliver you a functional, reliable car. The risk of something like this is very small--- but they should take the risk. Otherwise people will worry that this could happen to them. BMW should stand behind the ED experience, even if they have to charge us all $50 extra to cover the 1 in 1000 chance of this happening....
