You learn something new everyday Of course when I think about it, of course they must create some dust, otherwise they'd never wear out

Another thing to bear in mind is that they definitely don't make the car stop any quicker under normal circumstances. Yes, they 'feel' better and will keep the braking performance more consistent for longer, but they're still subject to the same laws of physics of hauling a near 2-tonne car down and, ultimately, tyre grip.
