I really don't understand people who are obsessed with the BMW's of yore (e.g., "the last 'real' BMW was the bla bla bla model from 1972"). I say, embrace progress, and let the past go! The fact is, BMWs are and always were just another product - a commodity, mass produced in a factory, designed by engineers, and marketed by guys in suits who need to make their quarterly numbers so they can pocket a big bonus at the end of the year. And if that means making an AWD M5, then believe me, there is no force in the universe stronger than the corporate drive for profits, it will happen. And that's the story of industrial progress! I love it!
