Quite a good analogy due to the cross bank exhaust manifold. This replicates the exhaust pulsation of a flat plane crank V8 and is the reason why the F10 M5, and a Ferrari V8 to a higher degree, doesn't sound like a normal V8.
The Ferrari due to it's flat plane crank design that naturally creates a different sound, the F10 M5 due to it's cross bank exhaust manifold that replicates the exhaust pulsation per cylinder bank of a flat plane crank V8.
