THere's a few good forums for coding info, but in short you need a cable and the software to run on your laptop. Once you have that you connect to your car and follow a few guides until you know your way around.

There's some neat stuff you can do with coding these cars. So far I've turned off the health and safety warnings on the idrive, enabled the radio quick menu in the HUD, remote close on the trunk from the inside button and the FOB, and have a few more things planned once I get the time to do it.
