this isn't just great for us up north but AWD on a high torque car is a good thing, look at cars like the TT-RS and GT-R and see what kind of acceleration they can get because of it, otherwise RWD might not be able to handle all the power.

As for people saying you don't need AWD in the snow, sure you don't, I have a C63 with snow tires and I am fine, BUT I would love to have AWD if it was an option, not just for snow, but ice!!!

like the other poster said, this will most likely be an OPTION, not standard plus I would bet BMW does something similar to Audi where you can select the torque split and drive 20/80 if you want or 50/50 in the winter...

Would love to see this on a M3 Sedan or GT as the M5 is a little out of my price range.
