I had the same debate in December then test drove both back to back. Huge difference in acceleration, comfort, and handling. M5 felt more like home coming from an E92 M3.
As I sat in the dealership and saw them side by side from the rear, it was done...M5 won. I also considered the out of pocket costs for grill, wheels/tires and exhaust to make the 550 look more 'beefy' and couldn't justify it....M5 all the way!
