Not really, maybe in your head they're valid. You're very welcome to having your own opinion - nothing wrong with that. Some shocking news, though, might be to discover that BMW and it's M engineers are *gasp* not perfect and don't get to do whatever they like. They still have to abide by price budgets, emissions, country specific laws, etc. Not to mention each customer, designer, engineer, etc. has their personal taste and vision so you can't please everyone.

The M guys may build a car that is absolutely superb straight out of the box but given enough $$ and time I'm sure they could've figured out countless alternatives to parts such as Active Sound, single-piston sliding rear calipers, etc.
