They say it's more luxurious but I don't see how. They can't change the interior and the M5 has Merino which the 550i at 62k doesn't. If you get a full up 550i for $83k and add $38k you end up with $121k and you still don't have the full M5 package. I would rather get the M5 with every possible option and even then, you are probably still under $120k. I have almost every option except night vision and individual interior features. Mine was $111,400 MSRP so I am not sure how much more the other stuff would add but couldn't be more than a total of $120k.
The ability to switch the car modes in the M5 is really amazing. I had the suspension on Sport Plus yesterday on the freeway and I could feel all the little ridges in the pavement. I switched it to comfort and the ride just became that of a 750 or Lexus 460, soft and smooth. Just an outstanding vehicle, not getting that capability in a stock or modded 550i.
