I am shopping winter tires right now to mount on the 601M wheels (20 inch). I don't drive the car in the snow at all, but can't run high performance summer tires in winter in NY. I prefer to stay with a staggered set - giving the BMW engineers some credit for their design. Nobody seems to make winters in the stock sizes. Tirerack was suggesting Sottozero Serie II in 295/30/20 rear and 245/35/20 front (supposedly the 911 fitment). They also have the regular Sottozero in 285/30/20 rear and 255/35/20 front.

Seems to me that it would make more sense to go 10mm narrower both front and back rather than stay stock in backand go 20mm narrower up front. Also, the Sottozero get better survey responses than the Stoozero Serie II.

Thoughts?
