Here we go, noob with the photography here. Thanks in part to some input from you all here, I picked up a new D3100 for my honeymoon last month. This is my first time using an SLR, and I couldn't be happier with the purchase (well, maybe if I had gotten the 7000...). I picked up the 18-105 lense (same as in the kit D90/D7000) as well as a 35mm 1.8f prime. Reading some of the stickeys here and a couple other sites was extremely helpful. I also picked up a book called Understanding Exposure (http://www.amazon.com/Understanding-...dp_ob_title_bk)
from amazon when ordering some other supplies. It's an absolute must for anyone new to manual photography.

In 11 days I took 1,907 pics - the wife was ready to toss me into the volcano in the last picture by the end of the trip. Some of these stretch the definition of "night", but I saw some other sunset/dusk pics on the thread. Anyway, here goes...

The photos are:

(1) Looking towards Diamond Head and Waikiki beach from the Halekulani;
(2) The Four Seasons Lana'i, Manele Bay;
(3) Old Lahaina Luau, Maui;
(4) Ritz Kapaluia, Maui;
(5) Haleakela Crater, Maui; and
(6) one more of the sunset on Waikiki for good measure.
