5W-30 is the factory oil
0W-30 is one of the alternative oils

10W-60 was used in the E60 (V10) M5. It's "M Approved" for that model and I believe also for E9X M3's. Defiantly not, not, approved for the F10 M5.

I think putting the 10W-60 in your F10 M5 will result in a lot of harm and no good.
It's a risky move on his part I think. On the other hand, there were some M3 owners running 0W-30 instead of 10W-60 in their M3s successfully so who knows what will happen.
