I'm less concerned about the lack of MT in the next M5 than the overall trend of BMW to make each generation of their 5 series seemingly less and less driver-orientated. At this rate, BMW will just turned into Mercedes and M will just be BMW's version of AMG. Just a regular model with bigger engines and more powerful brakes. At that point, will BMW still be the "ultimate driving machine" if it is no different to Mercedes or Audi? There will be little point in buying a BMW as it will become just a generic brand with little distinguish it from it's competitors. But surely BMW won't fall to that level. They do realize what makes their cars so attractive.....or do they?
