With a simple calculation, the total amount of lease is almost identical.
For a 100K car, considering 0.0013 MF and California tax (8%) the total lease payment of 36 months /10 K is [43000 + 36 * 0.0013 *157000] *1.08 = $54375
The same calculation for 39 months/10 K is [42000 +39*0.0013 *158000]*1.08 =$54011 + one extra (the last year) registration fee of $400-500....So in case of 36 months the monthly payment is $1510.4 while in case of 39 months the monthly payment is $1384.9 ... ~$125 saving per months but 3 more extra months and one extra registration...
