I took the filters out yesterday, and as others have mentioned there is not a huge difference in performance but the engine does seems to breath a little easier. Throttle response may be slightly improved.

It is a very easy procedure, except for screw #7 on the driver's side. The job took me almost 2 hours for the entire job, more than an hour of that was on spent on this one screw. As a result, I have a few additions/changes to OPs instructions:

1. Work on screw #7 first. If you figure out you don't have the tools to get to it, at least you will not have wasted time taking the other 6 screws out. #7 is a real PITA!!!!

2. I also disconnected a few other things to improve access to screw #7. The hose that runs along side the airbox that the OP referred to in step 1 connects to a unit mounted on the other side of the intake pipe from the airbox. I removed the two screws circled in red, which provide a little more slack in the hose to push it out of the way of screw #7. I also removed the air flow meter by removing the two screws circled in green to create more room to work on screw #7.
