Whoever told you that is dangerous. Instead of saying nothing, they said something that is not only dead wrong but also put you at risk if you went out driving in the snow on the stock tires. M5s come with summer performance tires that should not really be driven on once the temps drop below 40 degrees and never driven in the snow. They are also wrong about there being no winter option. BMW offers a wheel (model 408) specifically designed to be used for winter tires. I'm running Bridgestone Blizzacks, size 255/40 19 on all 4 corners. Work great in the snow.
