On stock tires in the Northeast, no way.... With a 19 or even 20 and a good snow tire, you will do as well and brake better than an all wheel drive car with all season tires.

Add some weight to the trunk, and with that amazing differential and curb weight you should have no issues in up to 5 inches of snow.

I have blizzaks in my 135i with the electronic crap diff, and I still get by just fine. You have to smart with the pedals and not abuse the torque. My new M5 will likely get stock 19s with whatever snow I can find in the thinest allowable size, and I'll be golden.
