BMW's recommendations are all over the place.
It's written Castrol on the oil cap so I don't understand why ppl are using different brands possibly because of fancy packaging and 'made in Germany' on them, it's only Castrol Edge which is good enough for me. The BMW oil packaging has been a little confusing recommending 5W30,I don't know what it is now in the packaging which is Shell derived. Some were using 10W60 at the cars launch which some owners used in the previous E60 V10.
Not in US, our oil caps don't have recommended brand on it.
