Building on the left is a performing arts building w/lights rotating between different colors. The rest was the D700 w/Nikkor 14-24mm f2.8 shot at ISO100 in RAW on a tripod with 5-exposures (-2 through +2) on aperture priority (f3.5 - should have used f9 or so), then joined in photomatix. Played with the sliders in LR3 to increase sharpening, clarity, vibrance, NR, fill light, and a little cropping.
It was smart of you to superimpose a couple of f3.5 shots than one f9 shot because the detail of the lighting coming from each of the buildings would be compromised and made less spectacular by the smaller opening diffraction stars. The superimposed f3.5 shots allow for increased sharpness where an otherwise shallow depth would exist. Really a beautiful shot. Well done.

I just rented a D700 and I'm planning to buy its replacement, the D800, when Nikon decides to finally announce it. The D700 was FANTASTIC. Good choice sticking with Nikon and not falling for Canon.
