The 2017 Porsche Panamera Turbo S looks like it will be 700HP including hybrid assist. Who knows where the AMG competitors end up? We know where the new Hellcat series is slotting in (707 HP) and that's a 2014 car.

700HP is the new 500HP. I would be surprised if marketing conscious BMW would come out that far under the new Panamera S target.

What M branch may have been planning for a year or two ago may now be underrated for the emerging high-end sedan market (unless you get to the same place or better with dramatic weight savings).
If that is true that a lot of the competitors will be bringing their sedans to around the 700hp mark, then I'm willing to bet that the weight of those sedans are still going to around the 4,500lbs range while BMW will have less horsepower but will be around the 4,000lbs range.
