Brave work, thanks! It does sound more dynamic without that little bit of packing. If the muffler position leads to water accumulation maybe the small drain hole would be something to leave in place? Motorcycles have that small drain hole in the low spot in the exhaust to get rid of the water. Doubt it has any negative effect, and lets the water escape.
