I've actually contemplated this exact scenario. I had ordered an RS7 and when it came in I backed out of it and got my M5 instead.

The reason the M5 won this comparison is because it's RWD. The fact that it is challenging to drive fast is what makes it fun. It's also what keeps you from driving like a lunatic. You never know when the back end is going to go sliding sideways. I've had mine start going sideways under full throttle at 75 MPH on a dry freeway while making a lane change. I never felt out of control, but it reminds you to stay on top of how your driving.

Driving a super sedan with AWD is like playing chess with a 4 yr old. You may when ever match, but it will get boring quick. There is no arguing that AWD is quicker. I don't think being quickest in a straight line is necessarily funnest way to get from point A to B.
